Gatwick Aviation Society

Post by KineticChris » April 11th, 2013, 10:08 pm

Gatwick Aviation Society has its annual show on Sunday 28th April
I have attended for the last few years and it is always a great day for spotters to meet and buy/swap aviation memorabilia

I shall be attending this year as Taylor Made RF and have a couple of new products to show off.

As always Kinetic will have a pile of giveaways on the stand so come along and support Gatwick Aviation Society and meet Mr Active Display (Gary)

See http://www.gatwickaviationsociety.org.uk/lgw2013.asp for details

I have had many emails/ messages asking about the New Iphone & Ipad App
At this time the app is in beta and should be off for Apple clearance in the next few days :D

Here is a screen shot of the "MAP" and the "Aircraft List"
The App developer will do a formal announcement with all the features when it is released

If I was being picky, I would query why all 30 or so aircraft on the map appear to be on headings up, down or diagonally across the screen. :(

I take it as usual that all us millions of Android platform users have to go without or wait another year for a version for us. :( :(

If Basestation is running on a dedicted PC and permanently on screen you can use Splashtop to port the screen onto an Andriod device. This works very well for my Kindle Fire HD but I assume a small smartphone screen would struggle to show the detail.

If I want to look at a wider selection of feeds I use FlightRadar24.

If you look at, say, FlightRadar24 you will see aircraft pointing at all sorts of angles, corresponding to their track. So when they are in a turn, their orientation will change (relatively) smoothly.

But every aircraft in the above screenshot is pointing in one of only 8 directions: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W or NW. That's too much of a coincidence.
