Availability of worldwide SBS datafiles (AIRAC 1012)

Postby threemiles » December 24th, 2005, 4:54 pm

I have become aware that sending an e-mail to me to ask for SBS datafiles may not be the most convenient way as some people are afraid of misuse of their mail account.
Of course there is no intention to use you mail address, but anybody interested in data files may use the private mail from this forum, too, of course.
Because the process of generation of these files is almost automatic and takes less than three minutes do not hesitate to ask for them.
Distribution will continue from the website so that everybody can use them.
Cheers and merry Christmas

The public availability of DoD data underlying this service will cease on October 01, 06.

The current AIRAC data cycle 0609 is most likely the last one I can offer data for. There are a number of efforts pending to provide alternative data but this is still open.

I will update the current data sets from time to time to bring them up to 0609. If you have any urgent or special needs don't hesitate to pm or mail me.

Cheers
Andy

The stopping of the DAFIF data for public release is going to hit quite few products. Quite a lot of FS2004 navigational and FMS utilities rely on it to keep current and few have found alternative sources.

Stefan at FSNav has already chosen to joins forces with NovaGraph so that he can contibue to supply worldwide FMS data. The downside is that you'll now have to buy it.

After some rearrangements here current data for the Kinetic SBS-1 are available with effect from AIRAC cycle 200612 again, which is due for Thursday, 23 Nov.

There is an exception: Runways and dependant ILS are not updated for now.

When you feel you need an update for your area because changes have taken place, please send me a PM or mailto:sbs-1Xjetvision.de (replace the X by @). In my eyes it does not make sense to monthly update all available file sets (still some manually work required for me to upload them).

Data will be available to everybody as before from http://jetvision.de/sbs

Regards
Andy

Thanks,

BETA TRIAL:

An automated nav data update service for the current AIRAC cycle is available from:

http://jetvision.de/airac.shtml

It produces nav data (no landscape) waypoints and outlines, within a range of 225 NM of an ICAO location.

Please read the instructions carefully.

Technically it runs as a batch process, that does not send the dataset to your mailbox, but you can pick it up from a website sometimes later.

Also, before you start a batch process please check at thisssite, whether somebody else has requested the dataset of your choice already:

http://jetvision.de/airacdata.shtml

Before updating your outlines and waypoints make a backup copy of your files. All at your own risk.

Outlines (airways) are NOT broken into small pieces, therefore be aware that they may not appear on the Basestation screen at small scales.

You may want to experiment a bit with these files:
- the layer description is here (at the bottom of the page): http://jetvision.de/sbs.shtml
- all names are in layer 20 - you can change this by "search and replace" in a text editor (notepad)
- waypoint files are time consuming on Basestation start - better refrain from using the RNAV_INT_ files.

The update service is not available until March 22 due to technical issues.

Please refrain from complaining about unavailibility of this service by e.mail. It is either there or not. Your requests are not lost, are queued and will be considered once the serviceability is restored (unless your mail address has become blacklisted due to inappropriate comments by mail  )

A new AIRAC cycle has been placed into the system, which is 0810 eff 25 SEP 2008.
All old files from 0802 were deleted.

Remember: if you are looking for regional geodata these can be found on the original database page http://jetvision.de/sbs.shtml

Download and install these files to your outlines and waypoints folder and thereafter go to the auto update and overwrite with those files.

Only in very very very rare cases a part of the world is not covered by available geodata. In these cases send me a pm. Please check availability before you do so.
